A few weeks ago E found a stunning caterpillar next to our garden in the backyard. It was bright green with black and yellow dots. We put it in a jar (see below) with some leaves and sticks. It almost immediately made a cocoon. And over two weeks later we had a butterfly in the jar.

We had almost given up on it, but then our daddy walked outside yesterday and noticed that the cocoon looked different. He took a closer look andrealized there was a butterfly in the jar. He called all of us, and we came running outside to see the butterfly. It took about ten minutes and then flew away. We each got our picture taken with it.

Here you can see the jar and the leftover cocoon next to the butterfly before it flew away.

Again we have to be fair so here is a picture of C taken at the park yesterday evening. He was napping during the butterfly event.
